As an alternative school, Contact has a flexible, relaxed environment, with a focus on meeting all of students' needs, not just the academic ones. School should be fun, not like a job. You should wake up every morning looking forward to your classes, not wishing you were somewhere else. I do my best to make your learning experience as individualised and enjoyable as it can be.
If you're interested in drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, comics, video, photography, sound design or beatmaking, consider coming to Contact to explore all the possible avenues for your creativity. I can help you develop skills to improve your art, knowledge to aid you in deciding your next steps after High School, and if some kind of Art School is where you want to be, I can help you build a portfolio to get you there. If not, you'll find the knowledge & skills you develop are applicable in many other areas of your life anyway.
On the page below is a sampling of a variety of student graphic projects created over the years, please take a look. The blue buttons at bottom left will give you some information about what we do with Sound and Beatmaking.
If you have any questions, e-mail me: David.Nelson@tdsb.on.ca. I look forward to hearing from you.
I'm David Nelson, I teach Contact's digital arts courses. I've taught for 18 years, worked in advertising for 10, and have degrees in Fine Arts and Art History. I love languages, culture, travel, museums & art of all kinds.
And I hated High School. Every minute of it, except for Art class, which saved my life.

High school doesn't work for everybody, especially kids who are really into the Arts. Regular High Schools offer limited learning opportunities in the Arts, and Arts magnet schools can be elitist and high-pressure.
